Since its inception, in 1993, Women Acting In Today’s Society has supported hundreds of women with a variety of needs. 25 years on, WAITS is proud to be a multi-award-winning charity which provides high quality support and interventions via three key services:

Transition Support Service – supporting women affected by domestic abuse; through advocacy, counselling and securing accommodation

Community Integration Project – supporting women at risk of offending and or offending to resettle into the community

Women’s Refuges – WAITS provides safe accommodation and support to women fleeing domestic abuse

Our vision is to create a future where all women are empowered to make positive change. We deliver services which incorporate cutting edge approaches to tackle issues such as domestic abuse and offending. With a proven track record, success in a number of awards, and a strong finance and income strategy, WAITS has BIG PLANS for the future!

We are looking to recruit new Trustees to strengthen our Board and develop and grow the charity, alongside the Management team. We would like to hear from you if you have excellent communication skills, an ability to understand complex issues, are self-motivated, can work on own initiative and are willing to share knowledge and skills to move the organisation forward.

Do you have experience in one or more of the following areas?
– Fundraising
– Marketing
– Commercial Law & contracting
– Business development
– Social work

This is a dynamic and exciting time to join the WAITS Board, as we are going through a period of transformation. We have new social enterprise opportunities that are rapidly growing alongside the main charity activities.

As a Trustee of WAITS, you will be part of a team supporting the CEO with the development of our core services and new income generation services. We also work with strategic partners such as Local Authorities, Criminal Justice Services and the Voluntary Sector.

You can expect to contribute 2 hours every 2 months to our board meetings and another 2 – 4 hours a month to other business meetings, partnership working and governance functions.
