Midlands based women’s charity WAITS Action (Women Acting In Today’s Society) has launched a Summer of fun fundraising initiatives.

Whether rain or shine, the WAITS Summer of Fun Campaign will feature a range of one-off programme of events just in time for the long summer months ahead culminating in a family fun day in September in Cannon Hill Park.

The event programme is designed to raise much needed funds to ensure that the Winson Green based charity can continue its work helping the raising number of vulnerable local women, and children, at risk of domestic violence and impending homelessness.

“Since its inception 25 years ago Women-centered care has been at the heart of WAITS Action” says CEO Marcia Lewinson. “We take a unique holistic approach to our support. Key to our work of offering practical emotional and psychological support to anyone who walks through our doors.

“Our uniqueness lies in the fact that as an organisation we are not time-bound, meaning that we will offer ongoing support, for as long as we are needed. This gives women in distress and trauma, the time to heal when they need it most as they journey towards improved mental health and empowerment.”

The coordinated appeal is timed to coincide with a widely known research report in the NVCO Almanac that confirms that for the first time in six years charities have seen a 2% fall in earned income from the general public. The WAITS Action Summer of Fun programme is the perfect opportunity to not only raise funds but to create greater community awareness of this vibrant local charity.

“The ever-changing funding landscape demands that to remain sustainable through growth, small charities like WAITS need to employ a proactive edge” confirmed Marcia Lewinson. “In today’s fast moving society, we must ensure our fundraising approach takes on a more experiential-based approach where we offer community centered immersive interactive events”.

Exciting themed nights, and profiled events are part of the Summer mix. Events such as the WAITS Salsa Night and Sky Dive (July), as well as the Cannon Hill Fun Day are just a few making up part of the Summer of Fun programme.
