The lovely Mark Birch, a Commercial Insurance Account Executive from APlan Insurance, based in Solihull West Midlands, completed a fundraising Skydive for the WAITS (Women Acting In Today’s Society) Charity which supports vulnerable women caught up in a cycle of domestic violence.

Mark, who is one of our supporters, decided earlier this year, to raise money by jumping out of a plane. The good news is he selected WAITS as his chosen charity for his Skydive.  The fantastic news is that he broke his target fundraising goal and raised in excess of £700 for the charity. We are beyond thrilled.

With a good luck goodie bag in hand from well-wishers containing a pair of lucky socks, a black cat, a lucky penny and a trusty pre-flight Red Bull – to give him wings, Mark set off from his home in Birmingham at 5’clock in the morning to his destination at the North London Skydive Centre.

After the epic drop, we asked the father of 3 if he was scared before the jump, he said;

“I was nervous, but nowhere near as nervous as I thought I would be. I went with family and a friend who helped.

“Significantly, when I was in the plane I spoke to as many people as I could about the jumps they have done before. Surprisingly or not, I found that for the majority of the people there it was also their first jump. The greatest comfort was the instructors.

“Everyone was reassuring and as a first-time jumper their main priority was your safety and welfare. This helps to keep your mind off the jump until we were at 10,000ft and hanging out the side of the plane, then it’s Geronimo time”.

Congratulations and Thank you Mark!
