Since our last newsletter, WAITS have carried out a variety of workshops, with some amazing facilitators!
Every Thursday WAITS provide an online workshop for service users present and past. The workshops provide information and guidance in the following areas:
- Legal Advice
- Mental Wellbeing
- Arts and Crafts
- Women’s Rights and many more
Over May and June we have worked with:
West Midlands Police – We were very appreciative to have two workshops in May.
Knitting session from DS Gregory. The service users were given resources to start knitting and fully enjoyed the chat and an information session on domestic abuse support within West Midlands Police from the Team.
Danone – The food manufacturer Danone provided a 2-week employability, CV and Interview technique workshops. Yinka, Charlotte and all the volunteers at Danone used presentations and guidance to provide some valuable group and individual advice on helping with employability.
Birmingham City Council and Duncan Lewis Solicitors – Steve from BCC provides a monthly housing surgery to discuss housing, and Poppy from DLS legal surgery helps with any legal matters. Both surgeries are popular and vital for the service users.
Volunteers – Our Volunteers at WAITS go above and beyond their role description. We had two of our fantastic volunteers offer workshops to service user.
Arpu – Provided a workshop which was streamed from India to deliver the second part of her popular workshop on Women’s Rights. Providing Information on UK legislation in terms of domestic abuse, empowering through knowledge.
Kate – Provided a fantastic mindfulness session via collages, the women had the opportunity to create a mindfulness art with the crafts supplied.
- Michelle Taylor MUA – Gave the women self-care and self-love tips on applying foundation.
- Kate Lewis from Style by Kate – Helped the women to understand how to dress confidently after lock down. These workshops help with our service user’s self-confidence and holistic empowerment.
To all our facilitators that take time out to provide workshops to the service users of WAITS we sincerely thank you for your time.
