Pilotlight is a unique, capacity building charity offering free tailored strategic planning support to charities and social enterprises that are tackling disadvantage in the United Kingdom. Through the Pilotlight Programme they match directors from charities and social enterprises with teams of senior business people and facilitate a year long engagement to plan for sustainability, development and growth.

Pilotlight was founded by Jane Tewson in 1996 and in 2003 Fiona Halton (CEO from 2000 to 2013) launched the Pilotlight model that they work with today.

WAITS CEO says, “We are really excited to be a recipient of the Garfield Weston Award 2016. The Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales enables charities to break or prevent the cycle of disadvantage. At Lloyds Foundation they believe that people have the remarkable capacity to overcome the barriers of disadvantage if given the right support and opportunities.

They focus on supporting charities that help people facing multiple disadvantage to move forward with their lives. By providing both financial and practical support, and aim to deliver lasting positive change.

WAITS was announced as the national 2015 winner in the ‘Against the Odds’ category at the Lloyds Bank Foundations Charity Achievement Awards. WAITS received their prize of £3,000 at Banking Hall, the historic London headquarters of Lloyds Bank, in a ceremony compared by Radio 4 broadcaster and journalist, Libby Purves.

WAITS CEO says, “Since winning our award, we have received amazing support from Lloyds. My Coach, Jo Harris, has supported us through offering one to one support to myself, and in organising fundraising events for WAITS. In addition to this, being nationally recognised by one of our funders has strengthened our reputation as the go-to organisation for women suffering domestic abuse”.
