During our time in Istanbul in 2012 we were involved in working with Ismek delegates to examine and test the vocational engagement and training practices used to support women learners back into education and training.
We have compiled a brand new page to give quick answers to some of the most common types of enquiries we get. Maybe it can help!
Delegates enjoy a meal

Marking a successful exchange
The visit organised by Compact Europe brought 30 vocational trainers, from Third sector organisations, South and City College on the visit.
During our time there we were involved in working with Ismek to examine and test the vocational engagement and training practices used to support women learners back into education and training.
Through discussions with directors of women centres across Istanbul, we shared our different experiences of engaging women. There were amazing examples of traditional crafts being used in creating jewellery, fashion and crafts.
While there we were given fantastic hospitality by Ismek, to sample traditional Turkish cuisine e.g. Ottoman Cuisine.
We also visited the historical sites of the Blue Mosque and the Spice and Grand Bazaars.
Ismek is at the forefront of equipping non traditional learners across a vast number of vocational areas of work. For instance Ismek is teaching women high end arts and crafts, hair and beauty, fashion, hospitality and catering skills in order to support learners back into education, work or into self employment.
The visit has inspired Marcia to plan projects to support women into setting up their business, volunteering and employment.
